There are weddings where you spend the day quietly working around tension – nervous couples, fractious timelines, a room that hasn’t quite settled. And then there are days like Steph and Oz’s, where the ease is so complete that it sets the tone for everything.
They were unhurried. Genuinely unconcerned with the parts of a wedding day that tend to make people anxious. The day moved at their pace, which meant it moved well – and that quality shows in the photographs.
Hutton Hall in Brentwood was the setting. A Georgian country house with grounds that catch September light beautifully, sitting just outside the town in a way that feels considerably more removed from it than the distance suggests.
The Morning
Steph got ready at Hutton Hall – which always makes a morning feel more contained and less pressured. No car journey to factor in, no transition between locations. The bridal prep at Hutton Hall has a relaxed quality that suited Steph entirely. There was laughter, the kind of easy conversation that comes when a group of people are genuinely enjoying themselves rather than performing enjoyment for a camera.
The Ceremony & Reception
The reception room at Hutton Hall is one of the venue’s strongest features – dressed well, it has a warmth and grandeur that the Georgian bones of the building support naturally. On Steph and Oz’s day it looked exceptional. The kind of room that photographs with depth rather than just surface.
The Portraits
The gardens at Hutton Hall in early September are at their best – full, warm-coloured, and generous with the kind of afternoon light that makes portrait sessions feel effortless rather than contrived. With a couple as relaxed as Steph and Oz, the images come from observation rather than direction. They didn’t need managing. They just needed space.
“Tel was super easy to get along with – a real down-to-earth, grounded guy. He was responsive to any of my questions even while away on his holidays. The pictures speak for themselves. Even the shots I wasn’t so sure about, they’ve just come out perfectly. I’m really glad we chose to work with Tel and over the moon with our photos. I only wish there were even more.”
